HAMILTON - The Edmonton Elks came away with a 27-12 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the opening game of Mobil Thanksgiving Weekend, using a shut-down first half and two quick fourth-quarter touchdowns to get across the line on Friday evening.
The Edmonton offence leaned on Cody Fajardo's scrambling ability, giving their offence an extra wrinkle on the night. On the other side of the football, Malik Carney and company had Hamilton's Harrison Frost under pressure in what was an impressive display by the Elks' defence as a whole.

0 - HAMILTON FIRST-HALF POINTS
The Tiger-Cats were shut out in the first half of a game for the first time since 2024 as Edmonton went into halftime up 7-0.
The Elks' defence put Harrison Frost under considerable pressure and limited the impact of Larry Rountree III after a couple of strong recent performances from Hamilton's running back.
40 - CODY FAJARDO RUSHING YARDS
Justin Rankin and Shunderrick Powell initially struggled to impose their will through the ground game for Edmonton and until late in the game, Fajardo was his team's leading rusher.
Fajardo finished Friday's tilt with nine carries for 40 yards and a touchdown with his fourth-quarter score being the game's first touchdown. He picked up three first downs with his legs.
4 - MALIK CARNEY SACKS
Malik Carney had four sacks on Harrison Frost, with three of those coming in the first half as Edmonton's defensive front applied the pressure on Hamilton's pivot straight out of the gates.
Carney's third sack of the game came on a third-down try by Hamilton, giving Edmonton possession at midfield and eventually leading to a field goal.
