Als sign trio of Americans to practice roster

MONTREAL -- The Montreal Alouettes announced Monday the signing of American wide receivers Arkell Smith and Cortez Braham Jr., and American defensive lineman Bryce Ganious. The three players were added to the practice roster.

Smith re-signed with the Edmonton Elks in October 2024. That year he caught 13 balls for 148 yards and one major in five games. In 2025, he made 37 catches for 402 yards and one touchdown. On 23 kick returns, he gained 518 yards in 17 games.

Collegiately, Smith played six seasons at Central Missouri (2018-23) with 196 catches for 2,816 yards, 34 touchdowns, nine carries for 65 yards, one kick return for 20 yards, and three tackles (3 solo) in 41 games for the Mules. He was named an All-MIAA Honorable Mention in 2021 and Second Team All-MIAA in 2022.

Braham Jr. signed with the Baltimore Ravens in May, 2026. The 26-year-old played in three preseason games.

Collegiately, the native of Baltimore, Maryland spent three seasons at Hutchinson Community College (2019-21) while catching 68 passes for 1,387 yards and 17 touchdowns in 26 games. He helped the Blue Dragons win the Salt City Bowl Championship in 2021.

Next, he transferred to West Virginia (2022-23) and earned 17 catches for 164 yards in 15 games for the Mountaineers.

Then, he went to the University of Nevada in 2024, where he was named an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention after finishing the season with 56 catches for 724 yards, four touchdowns in 13 games for the Wolf Pack. Braham Jr. concluded his collegiate career at the University of Memphis in 2025.

Ganious was part of the last training camp in Quebec City where he played an exhibition game.

The 23-year-old from Houston, Texas signed with the New England Patriots in August 2025 where he played one preseason game.

Collegiately, Ganious spent two seasons at Villanova (2021-22) and earned 58 tackles (26 solos, 32 assists), 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 24 games for the Wildcats.

Then, he transferred to Wake Forest (2023-24) with 54 tackles (15 solos, 39 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks in 22 games for the Demon Deacons.
