Stampeders sign receiver Shawn Bane Jr.

CALGARY -- The Calgary Stampeders have signed American receiver Shawn Bane Jr., the team announced on Sunday.

Bane played the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Stampeders, appearing in 13 games and registering 24 catches for 388 yards and two touchdowns. He then spent three seasons (2023-25) with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and recorded 36 receptions for 1,713 yards and nine scores.

Earlier this year, Bane suited up in nine games for the Paris Lights of the American Football League Europe.

In college, he played 48 games and started 36 times over four seasons (2015-2018) at Northwest Missouri State. Bane had 212 catches for 3,363 yards and 31 touchdowns. Bane also accumulated 18 carries for 51 yards and one score. In the return game, he fielded 58 kickoff returns for 1,286 yards and 74 punt returns for 878 yards and two touchdowns for the Bearcats. Bane was the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association freshman of the year in 2015 before earning second-team all-MIAA honours in each of his next three seasons.

Also, the Stampeders have released American linebacker Nakhai Hill-Green. He had been on the team’s practice roster since being signed on Sept. 14.
