OK Tire Labour Day Weekend was all about receivers in both CFL Fantasy formats.

To no one's surprise, the Montreal receiving duo of Tyson Philpot and Tyler Snead led the way, while Toronto’s Damonte Coxie, BC’s Justin McInnis and Jermaine Jackson, and Saskatchewan’s Dhel Duncan-Busby also carried fantasy users to success.

Keep in mind that Saturday is mammoth with all four games scheduled on the Forty Creek Quadruple Header, so grab your snacks and enjoy.

SERGIO CASTILLO | KICKER | WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS

Yes, a kicker. Sergio Castillo won’t be a Most Outstanding Player candidate but should be considered for some back-end votes. The veteran thumper is on pace to top his career bests of 51 made field goals (51) and attempts (64) from 2024, as he has connected on 40 of his 46 attempts. He remains the league’s best from long range, with six games of 50-yarders.

Castillo has helped carry the Blue Bombers’ playoff hopes, having made at least four field goals in six of his last eight games. Winnipeg’s struggles near the goal line are benefiting his fantasy users, a trend that will continue on Saturday when the Bombers and Roughriders meet in the Banjo Bowl.

It might feel unusual to give a kicker the fantasy spotlight, but Castillo is in the midst of an unusual season.

SIT

KEVIN MITAL | RECEIVER | TORONTO ARGONAUTS

With Tyler Kahmann continuing his breakout season and Jake Herslow becoming more of a part of the offence, someone had to see their targets reduced. That someone appears to be Kevin Mital, who had just one target on OK Tire Labour Day Weekend against Hamilton. He’s had three games of four or fewer targets in three of his last five.

With Damonte Coxie leading the way, Toronto appears to have set its pecking order at receiver. Mital will have a hard time working his way back into Chad Kelly’s good graces. If you have a receiver on your bench who has been producing recently, promote him and give Mital a week or two off.

DHEL DUNCAN-BUSBY | RECEIVER | SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS

The Riders’ banged-up receiving corps has opened the door for Dhel Duncan-Busby to display his skills. He’s showing he can be a REC1, averaging 20.5 Fantasy Points in his last three games, with a season-best 24.8 FP in the Week 14 overtime thriller over the Blue Bombers. In that span, Duncan-Busby has caught 18 of his 22 targets for 315 yards and two majors, as the defending Grey Cup champs remain in range of overtaking Edmonton for the West Division lead.

At an affordable $8,700, Duncan-Busby is a must-start in CFL Weekly Fantasy lineups. Saturday’s Banjo Bowl will continue Duncan-Busby’s run in the role of Trevor Harris’ top target.

SIT

DEJON BRISSETT | RECEIVER | CALGARY STAMPEDERS

Jalen Philpot has become the Stamps’ REC1 for both reality and fantasy purposes. Although it’s not a surprise that Philpot is becoming an elite receiver, his success has come at the expense of Dejon Brissett, whose CFL Weekly Fantasy numbers have hit the skids over the past three games.

Brissett has not cracked double-digit fantasy numbers since scoring 22.9 FP in Week 9 against Hamilton. Outside of Philpot, Vernon Adams Jr. has diversified the usage of Calgary’s receiving corps, so, for now, Brissett should not be a name to consider for your Week 15 lineup.
