Finding a productive sleeper at running back has been a chore of late.
However, the Week 18 edition of CFL Weekly Fantasy sleepers has discovered at least one rusher worthy of filling your lineup.
LARRY ROUNTREE III | RUNNING BACK | HAMILTON TIGER-CATS
Few projected Larry Rountree III to have his best game of the season against West Division leader Edmonton, but the Ticats back kept the Elks’ defence off balance. Rountree scored 16.6 Fantasy Points in Week 17, generating 96 yards from scrimmage that included a 39-yard touchdown run.
The first-year runner has recorded double-digit fantasy numbers in consecutive weeks and has an excellent opportunity on Friday Night Football against a REDBLACKS defence allowing a league-worst 130.6 rushing yards per game. At $7,800, Rountree is a strong value play set for bigger numbers than the previous two weeks.
DYLAN DJETE | RECEIVER | SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS
Dylan Djete has quietly contributed to a Roughriders' receiving corps that has endured a rash of injuries this season. He opened the eyes of CFL Weekly Fantasy users with a 15.3 FP performance against Ottawa in Week 9 and added 13.7 FP in the Week 17 loss at BC that included his second major of the campaign.
Friday night’s home matchup against Calgary presents an ideal game to insert Djete into your lineup. The Stampeders have yielded a whopping 36 passing majors and 319.8 passing yards, making Trevor Harris a huge fantasy play. If you’re plugging in Harris at pivot, Djete and his affordable $4,200 salary make for a nice pairing.
DRU BROWN | QUARTERBACK | WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS
When Dru Brown is on, he can be a fantasy asset. Thrust into the starting role after Zach Collaros was placed on the six-game injured list, Brown is coming off a three total touchdown outing against Toronto in Week 17.
Brown scored 18.2 Fantasy Points last week while also turning Dorian Singer into a fantasy star. At $10,000, Brown is an affordable pivot who will likely be playing from behind against the Alouettes. He had 28 attempts in Week 17 but could be in the 35-40 range on Saturday. That alone makes Brown worthy of consideration.
MCLEOD BETHEL-THOMPSON | QUARTERBACK | OTTAWA REDBLACKS
Rushing attempts from REDBLACKS running backs only impede McLeod Bethel-Thompson's Flying Circus. The former Grey Cup-winning pivot has shown he can still let it fly, having scored 33 and 22.3 Fantasy Points the last two weeks while combining for 797 yards and seven passing majors.
Bethel-Thompson has thrived with a receiving unit that includes Justin Hardy, Ayden Eberhardt, and Keelan White. The quartet welcomes Hamilton to the nation’s capital for Friday Night Football, and while the Tiger-Cats are third in passing yards allowed per game (280.6), they are seventh in completion percentage allowed (70.7). At only $10,000, Bethel-Thompson is an affordable fantasy anchor capable of top-five numbers.
