MONTREAL -- The Montreal Alouettes announced Monday that they have reached an agreement with American defensive back Lorenzo Burns, who has been with the team since 2024.
Burns recorded 61 defensive tackles, 17 pass knockdowns, one forced fumble and two interceptions in 2026. The Murrieta, CA native has played 36 games with the team over the past three years.
“Lorenzo brings a great deal of stability to our defence,” said Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia. “Without making too much noise, he is extremely effective at shutting down our opponents. You only have to look at his statistics to see that he has consistently put up good numbers since joining us.”
The former University of Arizona player (2016–2020) played for the Birmingham Stallions, who won championships in the USFL in 2022 and 2023, followed by the UFL in 2024. In 2022, he shared the title with Noel Thorpe, the Alouettes’ defensive coordinator.
The 29-year-old has also played in the NFL with Jacksonville in 2021 and Cleveland in 2023.
