CFL Weekly Fantasy users who followed our advice on starting Jake Herslow were rewarded when the Toronto receiver scored 13.4 Fantasy Points in the team's OK Tire Labour Day Weekend win over Hamilton.
The Week 15 edition of Sleepers promises you’ll be equally happy to follow our advice as you watch Saturday’s Forty Creek Quadruple Header.
LIAM TALBOT | RUNNING BACK | MONTREAL ALOUETTES
The Alouettes took a hit when Travis Theis was placed on the six-game injured list on Tuesday, costing them the services of the league’s fourth-leading rusher. Thrust into the spotlight, Liam Talbot, who had one carry before Week 14, recorded five carries for 19 yards and a major.
Talbot, a rookie from Windsor, should be atop the depth chart for Saturday’s clash at BC. Montreal sports a league-best 8.4 yards per play and averages 5.5 yards per rush, numbers that run head-on against a Lions defence that limits opponents to a mere 57.3 rushing yards per game and 3.7 yards per carry. Still, Talbot and his $7,500 fantasy salary are affordable production. He will prove his fantasy worth near the goal line, so we’re counting on him to deliver at least one touchdown.
DORIAN SINGER | RECEIVER | WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS
Beginner’s luck? Not for Dorian Singer, who had an impressive CFL debut with five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown in the OK Tire Labour Day Weekend win over Saskatchewan. The newcomer from Utah fit in well with Winnipeg’s veteran receiving corps and added some spark to a Blue Bombers passing game that is just seventh in the league in passing yards per game.
Singer will remain a reliable target for Zach Collaros in Saturday’s Banjo Bowl, as the Roughriders allow 317 passing yards per game and a 71.8 percent completion rate (both eighth in the league). He’s only $3,500 in fantasy salary, making him a solid fit at either receiver or FLEX. Singer scored 17.2 Fantasy Points in his first game and should approach those numbers and prove he’s not a one-game flash.
QUALI CONLEY | RUNNING BACK | SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS
Despite holding RB1 status for the bulk of AJ Ouellette’s absence, Quali Conley has flown under the fantasy radar with modest totals. That might have changed in Week 14, as Conley rushed 14 times for 59 yards and caught two passes for 42 yards and a major, giving him a season-best 18.1 Fantasy Points.
Conley averages 5.0 yards per carry and has turned 13 of his 72 carries into runs of at least 10 yards. If he can stay involved in Saskatchewan’s passing game, Conley’s $7,000 salary makes him a good low-end RB2 or flex in Saturday’s Banjo Bowl against Winnipeg. He’s recorded at least 10 touches in each of the last two games and will keep up his increased volume, if Ouellette isn't ready to return this week.
KALIL PIMPLETON | RECEIVER & RETURNER | OTTAWA REDBLACKS
One of the things the REDBLACKS would love to do before the end of the season is to free Kalil Pimpleton and exploit his game-altering speed. Whether it comes from incumbent pivot Jake Maier or rookie Bryson Barnes remains to be seen, but fantasy users can expect Pimpleton to see an increased role in the Ottawa offence.
Pimpleton comes into Saturday’s game at Ottawa with 34 receptions for 423 yards. He has yet to score a major as a receiver, yet we feel that changes against an Argonauts defence that has given up a league-best 28 completions of better than 30 yards. With his speed and elusiveness, Pimpleton can certainly turn a short pass into a long gain, which makes him a strong play at just $8,100.
